advi from mandrake-rpm use gzip and gs and try find it in hard places
+/usr/local/bin/gs and /usr/bin/gzip.
But in my mandrake-like system they palces at /usr/bin/gs and /usr/gzip.
Of course, it is not difficult make symlinks ;) howether, I think it will be
+better if calling of programs not use full paths. I think these program places 
+in directories which is inscribed in $PATH variable.

KNOWN BUGS:
===========
 *PW security problem: should read .advirc in the directory where the
   DVI file resides, NOT where advi is launched.
 *PW Spurious fatal error: (the psfile had a bounding box, but the dvi
   file contained vscale=100.0 hoffset=-228.0 voffset=-368.0
   hscale=100.0, instead of llx, lly, urx, ury).
 Fatal error: exception Failure("psfile: no bbox")
 ???
 * going to full screen and back changes slightly the size and position 
   of the window
   This seems to be entirely due to improper saving of the X window state
   in the fullscreen code in deviview.ml: one is not getting the same
   width/height/x/y position as X

LIMITATIONS:

* Grdev.cut does not work ?
==>PW could you elaborate a bit ???

* PStricks ne marche pas correctement avec \ncarc etc. (annotation sur les
  fl�ches). 

* font searches uses the hard-wired directory "/usr/share/texmf/ls-R" (in 
config.ml.in instead of dynamically finding the search path for fonts). 
This will not work if the user install news fonts and sets some environment
variable accordingly.

CLEANING: 

* Parsing of specials should probably be shared (it is duplicated). 
  The abstract syntax tree should provided a data-type for specials

* The hyperref links (green boxes) are a little to close to the text (take a
  link that ends with a '2' for instance) 
  ==>PW added some extra blank space, but this needs to be rewritten
  using the parameters of the font of the glyphs at hand.

WISH LIST: 

 - Some option to stop effects would also be nice

    . embeded applets are not launched
      (then, they could be launch by a key stroke, this is actually an
       interesting mode for applets)

        need to add launching by keystrokes as suggested here and below

 DR: I don't think so, since there is already several unfreeze flags to do
 that.  You should just use them, maybe add -unfreeze on the command line,
 that would do as if you press the unfree keep.
 PW: Good news! You're right, I want to use those flags not to
 reimplement them! So, please tell me what are the names of the
 ``several unfreeze flags to do that'' ?

 -PW Add a new macro !current-page! for insertion in arguments of command
   calls.

Scratching
----------
 -PW Fonction stabilo

 (horizontal, vertical et � 45 o) par analyse du d�placement de la
 souris (mode par d�faut ou mode obtenu par shift).
 -PW Need to save the stabilo drawings and replay them on
  demand. (This would allow arbitrary add-ons (prepared in advance) to
  be drawn on the slide.)

Interaction with the WM
-----------------------

(1) Name of icons

 -PW Should be able to set up the name of advi's icon.
  (Should also provide an icon for advi.)

(2) Window class

 -PW Must set up the WM_CLASS X property to "advi": this way we would
  automatically benefit from the WM automatic handling of ``onglets''
  (window grouping).
