It's a maintenance nightmare -- which all but guarantees that it won't
be maintained -- and of very limited value anyway.
It's also an annoyance when cleaning up code dealing with items.

Instead of having monster memory, the player automatically knows
everything about all monsters from the start.

Alchemy has always been ridiculously broken and there's been a huge
amount of horrible code to support it. Sorry to any fans of
Alchemy, but it's got to go.
